Universal properties of 2D statistical models at the critical point a Conformal Field Theory approach

Abstract

We will describe the Conformal Field Theory approach to the study of universal properties of 2D statistical models at the critical point. In particular we will show how different observables can be related to the representation theory of infinite Lie algrebra the Virasoro algebra. We will focus on the 2D Ising model and implement the Transfer Matrix method to compute the free energy, critical exponents and the three-point correlation functions. We will match these findings to the CFT predictions.
